Er überwacht die Auszahlung von 50 Milliarden Euro im Jahr. Dr. Dirk Ahner, Generaldirektor für Regionalentwicklung in der Europäischen Kommission, war zwei Tage bei der Inn-Salzach-Euregio zu Besuch und besichtigte zahlreiche EU-geförderte Projekte. Nicht nur die Euregio sondern auch viele Projektträger profitierten von diesem Besuch, denn sie konnten dem Generaldirektor nicht nur die Projekte zeigen, sondern ihm auch ihre Anliegen, Probleme oder Hindernisse im Bereich der Regionalentwicklung schildern.

Am 29. März 2011 fand die jährliche Generalversammlung der Inn-Salzach-EUREGIO im Veranstaltungszentrum Reichersberg statt.

Im Anschluss daran lauschten rund 220 begeisterte Besucher beim EUREGIO-Forum den Worten des Wissenschaftlers Franz-Josef Radermacher von der Universität Ulm. Thema des Abends war “Die Welt im Jahr 2050 – globalen Herausforderungen regional begegnen”.
